Due to the severe weather, employees said the transfer stations were unable to deliver Saturday, but they expect to be up and running either later this evening or Monday morning.

He said an earlier car accident on Oenoke Ridge and Heritage Hill roads broke a telephone pole and damaged a transformer, leading to the first power outages in New Canaan.

The FCIAC gymnastics championships, originally scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. at Westhill High School, have been postponed to Saturday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m.
The Norwalk at Darien girls basketball game, originally scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m., has been postponed to a time and date to be announced.
The Darien at Norwalk/McMahon boys swim meet, originally scheduled for Friday at 3:15 p.m. at the Norwalk High School pool, has been moved to Monday at 3 p.m.

Superintendent Mary Kolek will make a decision by 5:30 a.m.
Kolek wrote in an alert on Thursday:
Knowing that families appreciate having information as far in advance as possible, I am providing the following update in anticipation of tomorrow’s anticipated storm:
I expect the decision about our schedule to be made early tomorrow morning. Because of our location and geography, this call may once again be a challenging one due to the track and timing of the storm. The decision has to be made by 5:30 AM to allow sufficient time for buses and staff to respond.
At this time the predictions still contain much variation. However, if it is determined that an early dismissal will allow for safe travel for students and staff, we will use the following schedule:
New Canaan High School 10:30 a.m.
Saxe Middle School grades 7 and 8 10:30 a.m.
Saxe Middle School grades 5 and 6 11:15 a.m.
South School 11:15 a.m.
East and West schools 12:00
