A Tribute to Connecticut’s Own Maurice Sendak

by Nancy

In a last interview with Stephen Colbert shortly before he died, author and illustrator Maurice Sendak couldn’t bring himself to agree with Colbert’s professed dislike of children, but he remained gracious.

The American Library Association awarded him the Caldecott Medal, considered the Pulitzer Prize of children’s book illustration, for Where the Wild Things Are, in 1964. Check it out at the Westport Library!
