Map out how to use latest GIS in Westport

Mapping the future, right from Westport Town Hall.

That’s what is on the agenda for two public workshops planned over the next several weeks as the town offers training sessions for the latest version of the web-based viewer for GIS, or geographic information systems.

Westport Town Engineer Peter Ratkiewich says that his department plans the free sessions on two Thursdays, Feb. 16 and March 1, in the Town Hall auditorium. There will be a morning session from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon session from 1 to 2:30 p.m. both days.

“The training session will cover all aspects of the using the viewer and various tools,” Ratkiewich said in a statement. “A question-and-answer session will be held at the end of the general presentation.”

Town Hall’s auditorium is a Wi-Fi hotspot, so those attending are encouraged to bring their laptops to follow along with the presentation that will be presented on a large screen.

The workshops are open to the general public and town employees.
