Westport beach — and parking permit — season is here

|

Since parking permits have been “in season” for Westport’s beaches since the start of May, Parks and Recreation Department officials continue to suggest residents purchase them through its website now that beach weather has arrived.

“We encourage residents to plan ahead and take advantage of our convenient online services,” Parks and Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy said in a news release.

Permits purchased online will be mailed to home addresses within three to five business days, McCarthy said. “It’s the fastest, most efficient way to purchase your parking emblems,” he said.

Beach-parking emblems may be purchased in person at the Parks and Recreation Department’s office at Longshore Club Park on Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Because of the increasing number on online purchases and to reduce costs, however, the office will not have evening or Saturday hours, the department said.

For cars taxed by Westport, resident parking permits are $35; $20 for residents over age 62. For cars taxed elsewhere, the fee is $200; $100 for residents over age 62.

Online purchases can be made by visiting www.westportct.gov and clicking the “P & R Online Registration” link. Customer support is available by calling 203-341-5090.
