The real work of Building What Matters — a modern new home for the Westport Weston Family Y — is under way, following the official groundbreaking ceremony held on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Y’s 32-acre Mahackeno campus.
“The Y has always served as a center of community life and wellness for our local citizens of all ages,” said Jim Marpe, Chair of the Family Y’s governing Board of Trustees. “Today, we are taking a very important next step in assuring that our mission of community center and wellness continues, not just for the current generation of those who live and work in our towns, but also for future generations of local families for decades to come.”
“We knew what we were doing would be good for the community,” said Rob Reeves, the Y’s chief executive officer, as reported yesterday by Westport News’ Paul Schott. “We stayed the course and stayed positive and met all the expectations of all the governing bodies. It’s the culmination of a lot of hard work over many, many years.” To read the complete article, please click here.
