New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199 announced today that more than 700 nurses, nursing assistants, laundry, dietary, housekeeping and other support staff at five Connecticut nursing homes will begin a strike at 6 a.m. tomorrow over what they feel are unfair labor practices at HealthBridge Management facilities.
The job action comes after theNew Jersey-based HealthBridge corporation imposed new working conditions — which the union is calling unfair and illegal — on those employed at HealthBridge facilities in Danbury, Milford, Newington, Stamford and Westport.
Picketing will commence at 6 a.m. and continue until 11 p.m. indefinitely at the following locations:
