Snow related injuries trickle into local hospitals

|

With snow and ice on the ground, hospitals in the region are starting to see a small number of people come in with snow-related injuries and hope to see more throughout the day.

At Bridgeport Hospital, ER doctor Donal Conway reported a small number of falls, including an elderly person who broke an arm. Conway said the fact that the heavy snow started largely after prime commute times might have reduced the number of snow-related injuries to this point, which is positive.

At St. Vincent’s Medical Center, hospital staff reported several falls during yesterday’s icy conditions but less today. However, more injuries are expected as the snow settles and people get back on the roads, or attempt to shovel their driveways — so be careful.
