Dr. Donna E. Coletti, founding medical director for Palliative Care Services at Greenwich Hospital, was among 10 women leaders honored last week with a BRAVA Award from the YWCA Greenwich at a ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich. Coletti, A Greenwich resident, was recognized for her work in the palliative care field. She is also medical director for Greenwich Hospital’s Home Hospice Program.
Coletti’s career in women’s healthcare includes 20 years in obstetrics and gynecology, 15 of which have been spent as a member of Greenwich Hospital’s active medical staff. In 2006, her healthcare path was redirected by what she describes as “a familiar yet different clarion call,” her aging parents who needed assistance. In 2009, Dr. Coletti became the medical director of Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Southwestern Connecticut. The following year, she earned board certification in Hospice and Palliative Care. In 2012, Greenwich Hospital created a palliative care department with Dr. Coletti at the helm. Since then, patient volume has tripled and services include a teaching curriculum with resident and staff education, community outreach and a comprehensive palliative care team.
Established in 1977, YWCA Greenwich BRAVA Awards recognize outstanding women achievers who have excelled in their professional careers and volunteer their time and talent to help others.
