Darien WINNER from Williams & Company

The Darien Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce our 40 under 40 winner, Julia Ambrosi of Williams & Company. Julia has been a member of the Chamber Board of Directors, and numerous chamber committees, is a part owner of Williams & Company and has been instrumental in its growth and success. Being a successful young professional requires focus on ones goals, a personal drive to contribute to both the business and the business community, and the commitment to principles for professional conduct. The 40 under 40 Awards are a meaningful way to reward young professionals who are so committed. The future economic growth and development of the state of Connecticut will rely upon energy and foresight of the leaders that reflect the 2012 Fairfield County 40 under 40 Award honorees.

The Keynote speaker multiple Olympic gold-medal winner Donna deVarona held the crowd’s attention reminding everyone of the great strides that have been made in in the 40 years since Title IX was passed. As a double gold medal winning Olympic swimmer, she still did not meet the requirements for a college scholarship because of her lack of a Y chromosome. She said she was happy to see so many female professional winners because over the last forty years, as the business world has made significant strides toward greater equally also.

Chamber member, David’s Soundview Catering provided fabulous appetizers—more than enough to make a meal on!

Darien Father’s Day Car Show

Visit Tilley Pond Park in Darien from 11am to 2pm on Father’s Day and enjoy viewing more than 120 vintage and modern high performance cars.

“We work very hard at including the highest quality cars,” England said. “We get many enthusiastic volunteers from the high school and from Aging in Place + Gallivant, the charity the show supports. We are training Darien High School students on how to judge cars.”

The Darien Lion’s Club will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers. All proceeds will benefit Aging in Place + Gallivant, a nonprofit which helps Darien seniors remain in their homes.

Koko FitClub Darien-New Fitness Concept

Koko FitClub had their first Fairfield County opening in Darien in the Goodwives Shopping Center on May 31st. The opening was highlighted by a Ribbon Cutting attended by Darien Board of Selectman & Chamber Board member John Lundeen, Chamber President Carol Wilder-Tamme and Darien Chamber of Commerce Board Member Laurie Griffith.

Koko FitClub of Darien is owned by local businessman, Steve Powell who has competed in Ironman competitions including the world championships in Hawaii,  run countless marathons, takes his passion for fitness to heart. “I know a lot of people, including me, who struggle to find viable ways to get and stay fit. That’s why I‘m really excited about bringing Koko to Darien.”    Koko’s Smartraining System™ technology analyzes each member’s fitness level, designs a program based on the member’s goals and guides the member through each customized workout.  The system provides ongoing feedback that constantly adapts to each member’s progress and does so in a time and cost efficient manner. Powell states, “We aren’t a gym, we’re a whole new concept in fitness.”

‘Health Tracks’ which offers personalized training plans for conditions such as diabetes, arthritis and breast cancer recovery lead to its high ranking in Entrepreneur Magazine.  Koko provides members with a roadmap to healthier living that we all could use.
