As Westporters regain power after Sandy — and the nor’easter that followed waaaay too quickly — many realize that electricity is not the only source of power.
Or even generators.
Fortuitously, Westport is one of four towns that — before the recent weather “events” — was chosen to introduce Solarize Connecticut. That’s the (limited time) initiative that promotes purchasing or leasing of solar systems (either electric or hot water).
Thanks to group purchasing, Encon Solar offers discounted pricing on solar systems. The more people who sign up, the cheaper the systems.
There are 5 “tiers.” Westport is already at tier 3.
The program ends December 14 — though officials are asking for an extension, because of Sandy.
The workshop is set for the Unitarian Church this Sunday (November 11, 12:30 p.m.).
This Sunday, tours will be held at 35 Gorham Avenue (10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.); 10 Stone Drive (10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.) and 7 Otter Trail (11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.).
