When The Wind Comes Sweeping Down The Plain

|

All Staples Players was missing were locusts.

Hurricane Sandy knocked out a week of rehearsals.

Then — in the middle of Hell Week preparations — a snowstorm canceled all after-school activities. A day later, “Oklahoma!” was supposed to open.

It did.

The cast and crew took the old theatrical motto — “The show must go on” — to heart.

When the curtain rose last week on Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical, Staples Players were ready.

The result: another fantastic hit.

“Oklahoma!” closes with two performances: tomorrow and Saturday (November 16 and 17, 7:30 p.m.).

Although perhaps the name should be changed to another famous production: “The Miracle Worker.”
