It’s a national debate: Christmas tree lighting, or “holiday tree”?
Westport comes down firmly on the side of the former.
A press release from First Selectman Gordon Joseloff’s office announces that “Westport will light a Christmas tree at Town Hall on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 5 p.m.”
All Westporters are invited to attend.
The Christmas tree lighting will be followed at 5:30 p.m. by a celebration at Christ & Holy Trinity Church’s Branson Hall. The Downtown Merchants Association is sponsoring music from Chris Coogan and the Staples Orphenians; an ice sculpture demonstration; food from Oscar’s and Bobby Q’s; special holiday cheer from Purple Feet and Blue Lemon; treats for the kids, and a fire pit from Gault Energy.
Plus — here’s how you know it’s “Christmas,” not “the holidays” — a surprise visit from Santa.
Ho ho ho!
