For 90 years, Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens has served Westport well.
But recently, a newer, bigger store has muscled in on its terrain.
Holiday sales were a bit slow this year. But Sal Gilbertie’s support of community organizations — like Wakeman Town Farm — never wavered.
How great, then, that yesterday’s Christmas tree and greenery sale was such a success.
It was so successful, in fact, that Sal had to make a special trip in mid-afternoon to deliver more trees.
The hot chocolate, cookies, fire pit and tree-lighting ceremony at WTF added even more to the local flavor.
