Solace In Solstice

|

Merri Mueller is a Westport mom, with 2 elementary-aged children. She’s also a certified yoga instructor. Every year on the winter solstice, she hosts a charity event.

It’s the shortest day of the year — but it represents hope for light. Over the next 6 months, days get longer and brighter.

Merri’s event — “Solace in Solstice” this Friday (December 21, 6:30-8 p.m.) — is a meditative yoga practice of 108 sun salutations. It will be held at the new Connecticut Challenge Center for Survivorship in Southport. Money raised helps Bridgeport families living with cancer.

There’s live music, plus a wine and chocolate reception.

Merri will dedicate this year’s practice to the families in Newtown. She says, “This yoga practice is very powerful, a prayer in motion, and creates so much love and positive energy.”
