Thankfully, Jasper McLevy Is No Longer In Charge Of Bridgeport…

…or any other place in Fairfield County.

For those who don’t know the name, Jasper McLevy was the long-serving (1933-57), Socialist mayor of Bridgeport.

Someone asked him, following a snowstorm, when the city would plow the streets.

“God put the snow there,” the mayor said. “Let him take it away.”

Bridgeport was a nice City when McLevy was mayor. Taxes were low, people were working, downtown flourished. Crime was low.
