You may not know that this is Discover Languages Month. But Coleytown Middle School teacher Margaret Manoff does.
In fact, in December she suggested that 2 of her highly motivated 8th grade Spanish students enter a national video contest in its honor.
Now the sponsor — the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages — has selected the Coleytown video as a finalist.
Titled “Language Breaks Barriers,” it shows a new student in school feeling left out. Finally a Spanish-speaking girl approaches her, and – ¡caramba! — all is well.
The video joins others on a website where everyone gets a chance to vote for the winners (“cash and product prizes,” it says).
Just click here, then register and vote for the Coleytown kids.
