Wedding Tour Wends Its Way To Westport

According to a press release I got — not coincidentally on February 14 — “close to 6 million couples are likely to get engaged on Valentine’s Day.”

I call BS.

That’s 12 million people — a third more than the population of New York City.

It’s 4% of the population of our entire country. Do you honestly believe that 4% of all Americans get engaged on one day?

But that’s not stopping the Westport Wedding Tour.

This 1st-ever “bridal event” is set for the Inn at Longshore this Saturday (February 23, 12-3 p.m.). In addition to wedding- and bride-related vendors, there’s live music, a designer fashion show, and “complimentary food samples and drinks.”

Andrea Rourke — a Westport resident, and owner of the sponsor (Wedding Day Expositions) –says, “the event looks to spare its audience of the exhausting hours spent online when one can meet and mingle with the leading industry specialists face to face right here at home.”

So if you’re one of those 6 million couples — or you got engaged recently on some other day — and you want more information (including discount tickets for Saturday), click here.
