The Class Of ’79 Comes Through

Dave Stalling is a Staples graduate, from the Class of 1979.

A former Eagle Scout and Marine, he now lives out West. But he has not forgotten Westport — and Westport has not forgotten him.

Recently, he said,

An amazing thing happened. I  had my Facebook page open, when a message popped up from an old friend and classmate I have not heard from in many years.

He said, “Hey Dave! After organizing 2 events for the class of ’79, we had $500 left over. I have discussed this with the committee, and we would like to donate that money on behalf of your son Cory to fight Duchenne. Can you help guide me in making sure that donation gets to the best place to support Cory? With much love, brother!”

Duchenne is a severe form of muscular dystrophy. Dave has been a staunch fundraiser and advocate for those with the disease.

“I’m so happy and grateful I can’t even sleep now,” he wrote about his class’s gift. “Amazing!”
