Last night — with some discussion but little hoopla — the Board of Finance approved the 2013-14 town budget. It’s a bit over $75 million — a 2.5 percent increase over this year.
The biggest “questions” swirled around requests for a police youth officer, and the Transit District bottom line. The officer was approved, while the Transit District was cut by a minor amount.
I know, I know: Westport is not Washington. And in the past, we’ve seen our share of local budget wars.
Spring may still be a ways away this year. But last night sure brought us a welcome whiff of fresh air.
