Thanking The Parrot

|

Last Saturday, the Blu Parrot served free food — pork and hamburger sliders, wings, cole slaw, bagels and muffins and more — to hundreds of drivers, spectators and hangers-on at Westport’s 1st-ever Electric Car Road Rally.

Now they’re out of business.

The 2 events are (hopefully) not related.

But they underscore the difficulty of running a restaurant here. Even one as popular as the casual, music-oriented Blu Parrot, in the revitalized Saugatuck neighborhood, with plenty of parking and easy access to I-95.

So let’s be thankful for the ones that make it. Let’s patronize them as much as we can.

And let’s appreciate gestures like the Blu Parrot’s last weekend, even as it prepared to close its doors.

Blu Parrot owner Adam Lubarsky manned the grill last Saturday.
