“Gathering Of Glory” Returns To The Screen

Just in time for whatever you want — the Oscars, a look back at Westport, a respite from endless snow — “A Gathering of Glory” is back. Mark the date: Friday, February 28 (12-1 p.m., Westport Historical Society).

The film — made for Westport’s millennium celebration in 2000 by award-winning documentarian Martin  West — is a great one.

Narrated by Keir Dullea, it highlights all our arts: literary, visual. music and theatre.

This being Westport, the video includes insights from locals like Christopher Plummer, Joanne Woodward, James Naughton, Evan Hunter, Hilton Kramer and John Corigliano.  They talk insightfully about our town’s amazing years as an arts haven. The original score is by Westport composer Paul Alan Levi.

A Q-and-A with the filmmaker follows the showing. Bring a bagged lunch — sorry, no popcorn or $10 Jujubes at this show.
