As you probably know, Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations just wrapped up this week, after a long weekend of ceremonies, concerts, and other festivities. Feeling a bit homesick, I kept my radio tuned to the BBC coverage to hear all about it. In the meantime, here in Darien we had a great time attending another celebration–somewhat smaller but no less fun!–marking the reopening of Weed Beach. How fortunate we are to have our local beaches! Kids were playing, listening to music and dancing, everyone was relaxing and enjoying the sun on Sunday, June 2 (no rain for a change), and the mood was, in fact, jubilant! We hope to take advantage of our lovely beaches this summer, not to mention the paddle and tennis courts. If you’ve got young children, consider heading to Weed Beach this month for the upcoming Family Summer Concert series.
