The Fez supports artists of many types, both musically and visually. The Artist in Residence Program allows us to proudly showcase local artists in our restaurant through exhibition in our dining room. The restaurant, moderate in size, offers an intimate viewing. Most important, our space offers excellent exposure with a steady stream of new patrons.  The Fez seats at least 700 people per week.
The Fez truly enjoys the collaboration between artist and restaurant!  Download our Artist in Residence Information Sheet.

The Fez welcomes Charmaine Rawsthorne as their next Artist in Residence. Charmaine will be displaying “Miles Between”, paintings of oil and acrylic on canvas.

Anne’s Window, Acrylic, 24 x 36 by Charmaine Rawsthorne

Originally from Stamford, Charmaine currently resides in Norwalk, CT. With a life-long passion for art, she received her Associates Degree in Studio Art in 2013 from Norwalk Community College.  Much of her work is inspired by places she and her family have traveled to, bringing a flavor of the exotic to the earth tones of much of her work.  On the lighter side, you will find her interpretation of musicians and singers taking a break from their performances. She also focuses many of her works incorporating a nautical theme. Painting is her main focus however she has also worked in stained glass and hand sculpted pottery.
In 2016 Charmaine joined the Board of the Stamford Art Association where she serves as juror chairperson.  She is also a member of the Rowayton Arts Center, New Britain Museum, and Lockwood Matthews Mansion.  In addition, for the past 20 years has been an active member of Halloween Yacht Club in Stamford where she served on their Board of Governors and also served as a past Bridge Officer, and past Committee Boat Chairperson for the Twilight Races on Long Island Sound.
Charmaine has exhibited her work at The Stamford Art Association, as well as in the Faber Birren National Color Awards Exhibit.  She has also exhibited numerous times at the Norwalk Parking Garage Gallery, Rowayton Arts Center, Ferguson Library, Pequot Library Art Show and has had a solo exhibit at a popular Norwalk restaurant. A complete list can be found on her website
Her travels have recently taken her to Australia where her son resides.  Planning her second visit in the fall will provide inspiration for paintings of life in the Land Down Under.
