Have you heard about the newest beauty trend that women everywhere is rushing to get? The new trend is called Microblading. I’ve noticed a few of my clients coming in at Whip Salon with perfect brows that now I have been flirting with the idea of getting it done myself.
Microblading is the newest beauty trend that has ladies walking around with model perfect brows! Whether you like them thick, or thinner, arched or straighter, the procedure of microblading can give you your dream brows. When microblading a tiny blade is used to place custom colored hair like strokes in the top layer of the skin to create a perfect brow. It is considered a semi-permanent makeup that lasts upwards of 18 months. Kathleen Jowdy, owner of Get Glowing! Airbrush Tanning By Kathleen in Ridgefield has been offering this new procedure for about 6 months now and has been booked since she started! “I saw perfect brows all over Instagram and decided to train so I could offer this amazing treatment to my clients!” Kathleen was trained by Julia Milin of Brow Design International in NYC. Kathleen received her tattoo license from the State of CT.
Kathleen has done the procedure on all ages and for clients who have lost their brows because of cancer, or other medical conditions. Some clients just need a few strokes here or there to fill in sparse or over-tweezed areas to create the perfect shape and fullness. Others need a full brow. The brows are drawn on with a medical marker and then measured using a caliper and a formula so that each brow is shaped and measured per facial features and desired outcome. Once the client approves the shape, the microblading begins. The first procedure takes about 1.1/2 hours. Then 30-45 days later a second “perfecting” treatment is done. The pigment retention, shape and color is reassessed during the second treatment. There is no downtime and after care is simply applying a very thin layer of Aquaphor to the brow for 7 days. “I get so excited when my client looks in the mirror when I’m finished and she is in disbelief! Brows frame the face and may be the most important feature, in my opinion. They can really make or break your look and your age, for that matter!”
Because of health issues with lupus I’ve lost a lot of my lashes & brows. But I’ll need to get approval from my doctor before moving forward with the procedure. I’ll be sure to document the entire procedure from beginning to end. If your looking for that perfect gift this will definitely make for a great Christmas gift, I promise! If your tired of dying your brows, and filling them in every morning, you should make your appointment now.
