It took five decades to produce it, but some local musicians are planning to only take about two hours to honor it. Old School Revue will come together with former Tower of Power lead singer Tom Bowes for a musical journey through American popular music.
The concert will be held Thursday, at the Levitt Pavilion of the Performing Arts in Westport, where the seven-piece Old School Revue has performed many times. “Summer Soul Serenade,” will bring the audience on stops to the music of Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder and Tower of Power.
Throughout the course of his international career, Bowes has performed with Ray Charles, Queen Latifah, The Doobie Brothers, Michael McDonald, Will Lee and recently toured with Blood Sweat & Tears.
Old School Revue includes Westport’s Bob Cooper on keyboards, Jim Mola on drums, Fairfield’s Frank Barrese on guitar, Joe Kos on percussion and Westport’s Old School Music founder and bassist Roger Kaufman. The Saugatuck Horns are Joe Meo, Fred Scerbo and Bobby Carlson also will perform.
Gates open for lawn seating at 7 p.m. Show time is 8 p.m. and admission is free. Blankets or chairs are recommended.
