typical for CT. Bunch of old, yester-year, white hairs too blind to lead in the 21st century. Technology and Society is moving too quick for them to adapt. Allow alcohol sales on Sunday and legalize the green.

Youre picture looks like you may have had a few to many the night before it was taken? How is the liver holding up?

    The Sunday-closing law is ridiculous.

What is the “public policy” reason for no Sunday sales? There is none.

Religious reasons? Give me a break — even if it were constitutional to base the law on religion, everything else is sold on Sundays, including lottery tickets and pornography. Connecticut is hardly pure.

The ban on Sunday sales only continues to exist because package store owners don’t want to open another day — and not even ALL package store owners, the ones on the borders want to open and compete.

The “mom and pop” shops think they’ll be put out of business by bigger stores that can hire help for a seven-day schedule. Hey, guys: welcome to the 21st century. Why is this group the only ones protected from competition? They peddle liquor. The neighborhood pharmacists are gone, for instance, and they sell medicine.

The blogMeister is correct that people can just plan better. I doubt I’ll do a lot of Sunday buying. But that’s not the point. There should be reasons for laws and there is no reason for the ban.
