Another gratuitously snide remark. Forming an “exploratory committee” for candidates who intend to run for office is a common first step, and benefits a candidate’s fund raising in numerous ways, including permitting the candidate to raise greater campaign funds. It’s a process that is widely accepted and one that is followed by most candidates for office, from congress to the presidency, and by members of both parties. Shifting from that “exploratory” committee to a full campaign committee eight months before the general election and five months before the primary hardly represents any sort of significant delay, as you imply.

Mr. Malloy has not been dithering or delaying or in any way putting off a decision to run by maintaining an “exploratory committee”. Given all the years you’ve been covering politics, Mr. Dixon, you, of all people, should understand that. Suggesting with your headline that Mayor Malloy is “finallly scheduling” to transition his campaign by closing his exploratory committee that Mayor Malloy has engaged in some sort of dilatory tactic is misleading and wrong.
