Mr. Herrmann has indeed shown an astounding lack of respect for the voters of Easton, and particularly for his own Republican party. The 38-member Easton Republican Town Committee spent its time and treasure to get him elected last November. Less than 4 months later he has launched a fully formed Congressional Campaign. His literature is out and his ads are on the radio. He’s clearly been planning for some time. Not only did he make his announcement from another town surrounded by several Easton Democrats, Mr. Herrmann has virtually ignored the committee that ran his First Selectman campaign. He apparently saw no reason to engage in the honorable practice of advice and consent with his party. In fact, the town committee had its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 25. Mr. Herrmann delivered a lengthy report to the committee that did not include a whisper about his campaign. Mr. Herrmann’s open disregard for his current constituents will fit very well into the government scene in Washington, D.C. That being said, voters beware.

Well it looks like we “Eastham” Easton farmers are already being left in the dust by our ambitious First Selectman who can’t even remember the name of the town he claims he will continue to govern as he attempts to move on to bigger and better. It was insulting enough to us that he had to make his big announcment of his run for Congress from the big city rather than our insignifican small town. Noticed that among his 12 supporters today in Stamford were several of our democratic town leaders. No surprise as most of us have known for some time Mr. Herrmann is our leading RINO!
