Races Getting Kinda Crowded? Rep. Arthur O’Neill Announces Candidacy for GOP Nomination for AG

Veteran Rep. Arthur O’Neill, R-Southbury, is in the Capitol Press Room at this moment announcing his intentions to seek the GOP endorsement for state attorney general this weekend at the nominating convention. A late entry for sure, O’Neill said that he re-thought his chances after the state Supreme Court ruled that Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz didn’t meet the 10-year minimum for “active” legal practice. He’s competing with John Pavia III of Easton and Ross Garber, of Glastonbury, for the endorseement. O’Neill said he was first admitted to the bar in October, 1978 and has been in practice for 32 years. He was first elected to the Legislature in 1987 and has been ranking member of the Judiciary Committee for four years.
