Lawlor’s first interview as deputy OPM designee

Soon-to-be-former Rep. Michael P. Lawlor, D-East Haven, abandoning the Legislature after 24 years to become the criminal justice deputy in the Office of Policy and Management: “There are three goals here. Number one is to reduce crime. Number two is to save money. Three is to restore trust in the criminal justice system. Many crime victims don’t trust the system. Many racial minorities  don’t trust the system. Citizens as a whole are wary and skeptical because of various scandals. The whole point was to take public policy as adopted by the Legislature and set up by the governor  and actually make it happen. I think it’s doable.”
