Privatisation, of some services should start immediately. Start with Public Education, Parents Choice, “SCHOOL VOUCHERS” Better Education,, Lower Costs. Nation wide 30% of Public School employees send their children to PRIVATE SCHOOLS. Municipal Garbage should be privatised, examples would be divide a city into liciencience area and sell the terrority to private contractors. Public Buildings janitorial work contracted out. Running our local and state goverments should be done on a business model. Too many lawers are self feeding politicans, WE need successful business people for top jobs in our state, cities and towns.

Tom Foley would fix the union problem? Think again!
Tom Foley could use his pent-up anger and Corporate Raider tactics to bludgeon them into submission.
Yes, that’s it, that’s the answer. “Sure.”
Tom Foley, if elected, could use brute force and the power of his clearly superior intellect to vanquish the unions of Connecticut. “Get real.”
While he’s at it, he can strong-arm the Legislature, too, into doing whatever he wants. “Oh really?”
Tom Foley would do no better than Malloy with this mess, possibly even worse.
Tom Foley is quick to criticize and take his sniping pot shots, but I challenge him to get very, very specific and tell us exactly WHAT he would do to fix this mess.
Until and unless Tom Foley offers specifics, he is just another pretender to the throne.

Here’s a suggestion for the movie industry that was brought to Connecticut recently — take the cliched and offensively named “Mexican standoff” of spaghetti westerns, and re-label it as the “Connecticut standoff.”

I think that the whole State is in trouble, lay offs are not the answer tot he big state deficit, can you please help us state employees?

I understand what you’re saying. I’m unfortunately not in a position to comment further. I’m sure you could understand why.

I will comment on why the Concession Package failed. Lack of information to those who voted. If you look at the 60% that voted yes 40% was out of fear of layoff. The threat made right from the start. The other 20% was out of compassion for fellow employees. I for one gave a compassionate vote of yes.

The 40% would have been reduced further “IF” we as State Employees were given information of what the negotiations entailed prior to three days before the vote. Up until this time my only knowledge was from rumor and hearsay from fellow workers who have absolutely nothing to do with the negotiations.

Better informed negotiations would have brought the vote above the 80% mark. I don’t know of one State Employee that I associate with that would have voted no forcing the lay offs.

As the private sector and the employee’s about to be laid off blame the Correctional Employees they need to focus their anger on the true problem. The Union Leadership, Politicians and Malloy who failed to give the much needed information to the employees needed to make an informed vote of yes. When I asked INTHISTOGETHER I got responses like “Do Your Research.” OK! So where do I start? Who do I ask. They honestly can’t blame the Yankee Institute for giving mis information when SEBAC and our Union Leadership gave us no/minimal information at all. We didn’t even know what questions to ask. I personally couldn’t make the armory meeting due to work obligations and family matters that need to be attended to daily. There were many more like me. Where were we supposed to go to get the info?

Up until the moment I voted yes my knowledge of the concessions package was only that of a two year wage freeze with the lollipop of better raises in three years. A couple Correctional Sanctioned E-Mails stating not to listen to the rumors and memo’s about disciplinary action for sending fraudulent information about the concessions.

I had more mis-information than I had facts. Thus leading me to take a chance and vote a compassionate “YES.”

I see Malloy taking hissy fits and SEBAC crying and I “Still Don’t Have The Concession Info” that I voted for.

In my opinion this budget deal was a massive failure not only on Malloy’s part but on that of the Union Leadership who claim the employee’s best interest was at hand.

The politicians and Union Officials need to stop acting like children and work this problem out.

Thanks Carl: Set it up with the DOC commissioner and the public information office, then call me at work, 860-549-4670. Wanna bet they say NO? I’ve tried it before. A week? They don’t let reporters in for 20 minutes. KD

Please feel free to visit a prison and see how Private Citizens with no experience handle a 400 pound door slamming behind them with no way to open it. Especially when your in a room with a dozen inmates who have committed some of the most heinous criminal acts against the private citizen you speak of.

Why don’t you come and work a cell block with me for a week. It’s simple to sit in the comfort your office and write your blogs. Lets do it in a cell block.

It’s a simply fascinating experience I see every day!

Malloy doesn’t hesitate to pull the privatizing trigger.
He did it in Stamford, retaining Alphonse Barbarotta’s now burgeoning ABF Construction to manage many functions formerly performed by City workers.
Keep your eye on ABF, his business is expanding rapidly right now in the areas of municipal and school building management, parks and facilities management, and new construction.
If Malloy moves to privatize, you can bet Al Barbarotta has had his ear.

  10. Benzeir says:

First of all, Mr. Malloy should never have had the budget go to the floor without the concessations. Second, I saw this coming a mile away, I think he did too, this was all a ploy to push his tax and spend budget through making all residents of this State think he wasn’t bias. The same Unions that barely got him the election will suffer for their own stupidity for electing an official that along with his constituents caused the problems we have in this State now. I am talking about all elected officials for this State. Shame on them for doing this to us. There will be a huge exodus from this State the way things are here. No work, no businesses, high taxes and a free spending goverment!!!! This is not the way to fix things..dummies!!!
