Gov. Malloy applauds appointment of Sen. Beth Bye, D-West Hartford, to lead powerful Appropriations Committee

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy this afternoon joined state Democratic leaders in applauding Senate President Pro Tempore Don Williams’ appointment of Sen. Beth Bye of West Hartford to fill the leadership vacuum caused by the imminent departure of Sen. Toni Harp, who will be leaving the General Assembly to become mayor of New Haven.

“I want to commend Senator Williams on his selection of Senator Bye to chair the Appropriations Committee,” Malloy said of the budget-setting panel. “I have an immense amount of respect for the knowledge and passion with which Beth carries out her work in the Senate – a respect I know many of her colleagues in the General Assembly also share. Beth is a great choice to co-chair this important committee and I look forward to continuing our work together.”
