“You Can’t Make This Stuff Up?” Rowland’s “personal issues” pile up. He leaves WTIC amid guilty pleas for conspiracy in which he was the alleged third party

John Rowland the felonious, disgraced former governor who attempted to recast himself as a reformed religious figure and conservative, though memory-impaired elder statesman/GOP talking points reader on WTIC, just announced that today was his last stint at the radio station, as he has “personal issues” to attend to. According to Program Director Jenneen Lee, the man who still called himself “the Gov” thanked his listeners for their “tremendous support and loyalty” at the end of his 3-6 shift. He started the show with a reference to “sunshine and daffodils,” which the Blogster hopes he’ll have a chance to enjoy when they bloom over the next few weeks.

“We accept Mr. Rowland’s decision to step down at this time,” Lee said in a statement. Pastor Will, Rowland’s former sidekick, will take over the 3-6pm show beginning on Monday, she said. In U.S. District Court this week, Rowland was named as the co-conspirator with former 5th District GOP hopeful Lisa Wilson-Foley, who along with her husband Brian Foley pleaded guilty to illegally paying Rowland $35,000 for political activities through a supposed deal with Brian Foley’s lucrative nursing homes in an alleged attempt to skirt federal election law.  Rowland served 10 months in prison for corruption after his 2004 resignation under the heat of an impeachment investigation. All that’s left of his now-scrubbed presence on WTIC is the title of his blog: “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up.”
