Absentee ballots for the Nov. 3 municipal election are now available in the Town Clerk’s office.
A registered voter may be eligible to use an absentee ballot for any of the following reasons, according to Town Clerk Betsy Browne:
The voter will be out of town during all the hours of voting.
Illness or disability prevents a voter from casting a ballot in person.
Religious tenets prohibit secular activity on the day of election.
Absentee voting is a two-step process. An application for a ballot must be signed and filed with the Town Clerk before a ballot can be issued.
Applications are available at the Town Clerk’s office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or call 203-256-3090. Applications also can be downloaded at http://1.usa.gov/1rxqBm3 and sent to the Town Clerk at 611 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
The Town Clerk’s office also will be open on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to noon.
