NHL star’s restaurant to open in Norwalk

Chris DruryColony Grill Development is opening a fourth local pizza parlor in Norwalk at the Waypointe development on West Avenue.

Colony Grill traces its heritage to 1935 to a Stamford tavern, eventually latching onto thin-crust, hot-oil pizzas that dominate its menu today, and that landed it a spot this year on a TripAdvisor list of the top 101 pizzas in America.

The company’s ownership team today includes former NHL star Chris Drury along with three of his childhood teammates from the Trumbull team that won the 1989 Little League World Series.

Colony Grill has locations in Stamford, Fairfield and Milford; it’s newest location will be at 515 West Avenue in Norwalk.

“We believe Colony Grill is one of the restaurant linchpins of this project, “said Paxton Kinol, principal at Waypointe development company Bellpointe Capital, in a written statement. “We love their pizza, their local authenticity, and their commitment to community as a company.”

Waypointe is envisioned with hundreds of high-end residential apartments with restaurants, open-air cafes, retailers and a movie theater.
