GE Capital Aviation Services is ordering 60 A320neo passenger jets from Airbus to lease to airliners powered by engines from a GE Aviation joint venture with Safran, also ordering nearly 50 helicopters from rivals of Sikorsky Aircraft.
Fairfield-based GE (NYSE; GE) is in the process of selling off much of GE Capital, but has stated it plans to retain GE Capital Aviation Services, which has offices in Norwalk and Stamford.
GE Capital Aviation Services did not state financial terms of the deals.
Separately, GE Capital Aviation Services is ordering 28 Airbus H175 helicopters and 20 Bell 525 Relentless helicopters from the Bell Helicopter division of Textron, assigning them to its Milestone Aviation Group which leases helicopters for oil and gas, medical evacuation and other purposes.
Milestone Aviation lists more than 50 helicopters on order from Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft for delivery in 2015 through 2019, making up the largest part of its planned fleet alongside helicopters from Airbus and AgustaWestland.
