Further proof: Jason is the man.

    Thanks.

It stops a team from trying to regain the standings point by throwing the goaltender back over the boards if an empty-net goal is imminent.

Don’t mind me… Just surfing through.

  4. Fornabaio says:

Nope, they’d keep the point…. Rule 89 (a) Note 5, which has another interesting part to it: “A team shall be allowed to pull its goalkeeper in favor of an additional skater in overtime. Any attempt by the goalkeeper to return to his position prior to the next stoppage of play (on the fly) shall be deemed to be an illegal substitution and a bench minor penalty shall be assessed for having an ineligible player. However, should that team lose the game during the time in which the goalkeeper has been removed, it would forfeit the automatic point gained in the tie at the end of regulation play, except if the goalkeeper has been removed at the call of a delayed penalty against the other team.”

How bad would THAT loss stink?

I am not sure what the deal is with preventing the goalie from returning to the net on the fly. (It’s legal in regulation.) Any idea?

    Hey Mike,
If the Sound Tigers accidentally put the puck in their own net with Dubielewicz pulled for the extra attacker in overtime, would they have lost the point for tying in regulation?
I know rules questions don’t get much more arcane than this, but so what? It’s interesting. To me anyway.

O’Marra will be here this weekend. Comeau will be here once his team in juniors get eliminated.

  7. calgary says:

Is O’Marra with BST? What about Comeau? btw, is he Marcel’s son? COMEAU MUST GO… sorry flash back to the Nighthawks!!

  8. Andy says:

What? No O’Marra mention? If the Islanders play this thing right, they might actually draw a big crowd over the weekend to see their top draft pick play some pro hockey.
