Heh. 1) Discount Larry Brooks at your own peril. 2) Issues with Larry Brooks? Best to take them up with him. 3) See No. 1.
Sorry gang, but a few of you are missing the point. Brooks claimed Wang was making out the lineup in Bridgeport when Cronin was coach, not the gm, demanding Cronin to play certain players play on certain lines.
Mike has the conncections to the club and likely access to Cronin, call Larry Brooks on this garbage and expose him as a phoney.
Brooks even had the nerve to claim Bossy held out for money to attend the 3/4 ceremony, Brooks has to issue a public appology to Bossy when he later claimed his sources were wrong and blamed them.
This is the same Rag hack who was sued by Brian Burke during the lockout.
Don’t let our fans take this garbage, Mike.
I believe Mike is back tomorrow. He will have a busy day for sure!!!
Paul’s right. No need to prove or refute it. Even before the Islanders bought the team they were still paying the players salaries (as well as the coach’s salary) and by that right they could dictate who they wanted to play and how much any time they wanted.
I wouldn’t be suprised if any NHL GM told the coach of their AHL affiliate to play certain players. The AHL affiliate’s job is to get the NHL team’s best prospects used to pro/North American hockey. Their 2nd job is to win games.
Larry Brooks is claiming in his cheapshots column Sunday that Greg Cronin when he was in Bridgeport
was ordered to play certain players.
Mike, your the Sound Tigers beatwriter, how about refuting this or proving it to be true because Brooks has this habit of making up gossip about teams to make things worse than they were.
Boy did Mike pick the wrong time to be away from his computer!!!! Hope you are enjoying your time away Mike. Sure wish you were around right now to offer some insight and thoughts on the latest developments. Things sure have gotten a “little” out of hand in the Islanders organization. I’m being kind when I say “little.”
I’m sure the hiring of someone who is completely unqualified as Dan Marshall, an obvious Wang insider, didn’t sit well with Smith, too.
And now LaFontaine just quit in protest of Wang’s complete inability to run a hockey team. I think they’re going to have to change some of their advertising about how they’re going back to the good old days if all the good old days guys are going to quit. Wonder what Trottier is thinking?
that is a joke!!
The Islanders are going to replace Smith with Garth Snow. Makes me proud to still be able to say I’m a Rangers fan.
Only problem is that after I stopped laughing I realized we just lost our starting goalie. Damn… that’s not so funny after all.
Neil Smith out??? That doesn’t sound good…weren’t they supposed to still be in their honeymoon period?
Neil Smith no longer Islanders GM? Per tsn.ca? Mike?
