I guess I go back to the days of my dad being part of the steelworkers union. Anytime work stops I call it a strike. I guess we could say that in this case both sides were at fault so maybe it was a “strikeout”.

Andy, I changed one word in your comment, just ’cause it’s a distinction I’m obsessive about. (Sorry.) But also, Regier will be a restricted free agent (pending qualifying offers, of course) for a few more years, because he doesn’t turn 25 until 2009.

  3. Rigger says:

Steve will be back. He is heading down in a few weeks to get everything arranged for the season. He’s looking forward to it, expect a big year from him.

UK, no chance. Not right now at least.

Mike, thanks for the short briefing. welcome HOME! did you go anywhere good?

  5. Andy says:

Regier is not only under contract this season, but he’s going to be a restricted free agent next season (same way as Dubie was this year) because of the rules surrounding the lockout season. He was at the Islanders prospect camp a couple weeks ago so I’d say it’s pretty solid that he’ll be in Bridgeport come September.

BTW, welcome back Mike. You sure did miss an “exciting” news week while you were gone. I would sure like to hear or read your opinion on the whole Islanders firing/hiring GM matter.

  7. Lori says:

Steve has another year on his Islanders contract and will most likely start the season in Bridgeport.
