Among familiar names on the rosters for the World Championship: Frans Nielsen of Denmark; Jesse Joensuu from Finland (Petteri Nokelainen was reportedly among the last cuts); Swiss goalie Tobias Stephan and forward Nino Niederreiter; and, United despite being from different States, Minnesota’s Kyle Okposo and Connecticut’s Cam Atkinson and Max Pacioretty.
Alaska trails its conference final 2-1 after Sunday night’s loss. Scott Howes scored his first goal of the playoffs to force overtime, but Las Vegas scored early in OT. That series resumes Tuesday. Back in the eastern half of the ECHL, meanwhile, Kalamazoo tied that series. Somewhat remarkably, each of the four remaining ECHL teams has at least one guy who dressed for Bridgeport this year (Riley Gill’s backing-up-only keeps it from being “played” instead of “dressed,” but still).
