It’s not SJ-specific; Bridgeport didn’t play Manchester in ’08-09, for instance (or Winnipeg in 2001-02, for that matter, at least until the conference quarterfinals). Not sure about divisional opponents. But yes, as the league’s PR department is fond of saying, the Board of Governors creates the schedule format.
So teams get to choose who they play? There aren’t league requirements in terms of playing all conference teams once a year, divisional teams home and away, stuff like that? Or is this specific to St. John’s because or the ‘remote’ location?
Sorry, I’m spacing on the second part of your question, but my impression is Bridgeport didn’t want to go to St. John’s. Edit: A story from Brendan McCarthy says just that.
Hey Mike, why no games against St. John’s? Is that a known part of their acceptance in the league?
Albany plays four home games a year there. Edit: I take it back; they didn’t play there last year. But they did the year before.
