Portland Pirates of Lewiston

It won’t affect Bridgeport’s schedule, but the Portland Pirates’ lease drama has extended long enough that they announced today they’ll play the whole season in Lewiston.

They’re keeping the name and, though some changes to the schedule were necessary, Bridgeport’s second visit to the Pirates remains Jan. 24. The Sound Tigers were already scheduled to be in Lewiston on New Year’s Eve, one of the Pirates’ last games (at the time) in Lewiston while renovations to the Cumberland County Civic Center finished up.

The presser is ongoing as I’m typing; follow Chris Roy on Twitter, and see his Maine Hockey Journal and the Press-Herald for more and for background on the dispute with the arena trustees.

Edit: Aw. RIP, Denis Brodeur.
