Pack on the brink: Tuesday notes

(on Wednesday)

Hartford is going to need a massive comeback to reach the Calder Cup Final: Manchester beat the Pack 5-3 at the Mall to take a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Final. Sean Backman had another goal. Mackenzie Skapski did indeed replace Yann Danis as the starter; he made 29 of 34 saves. Game 4 is Wednesday.

If they need any hope that a team can erase a 3-0 deficit, there’s Toledo of the ECHL, which trailed South Carolina 3-0 but has forced a Game 7 with a 5-4 overtime win. Tyler Barnes scored 4:30 into OT to get the Walleye there. Heck, in the ECHL’s Western Conference Final, Allen trailed 3-1 and has also forced a Game 7 with a 2-1 win. Chad Costello scored the game-winner, and Dyson Stevenson was part of a game-ending fracas after Ontario’s Derek Couture was given a match penalty.

Those Game 7s are also Wednesday night, in Toledo and in Allen.
