Coaches for everyone: Thursday notes

Busy day on the carousel. The Penguins made Mike Sullivan official Thursday; Grand Rapids will be official tomorrow, and all reports are that it’s Todd Nelson. Ron Rolston will coach Springfield. And a pretty interesting bombshell out of a Dan Bylsma/Tim Murray presser: Instead of joining the Flyers, Terry Murray will assist Bylsma in Buffalo, joining his nephew Tim.

a-Former Norfolk Admirals, new San Diego Gulls. p-Former Portland Pirates; AZ affiliation moves to Springfield. To keep this manageable, other affiliation-swap coaches are assumed to move with the affiliation until we hear otherwise.

The NHL released its draft order. Islanders’ first and second to Buffalo for Vanek, fifth to San Jose for negotiating rights to Dan Boyle, a third from Florida from a deal for a third last year, and a pick they’d received from Tampa last year in a pick swap to San Jose for Tyler Kennedy. (And if they trade Johnny Boychuk in-conference, I think they still owe Boston their third… Yeah.)

Ridgefield’s Chad Krys is among those invited to the U.S. national junior evaluation camp. Simsbury’s Tommy Cross re-upped with Boston.

Atlas Obscura on punk, accents, California and vowel shifts.

I’m a latecomer to Henry IV Part I, but this scene has become my favorite bit of Shakespeare in a rapid hurry, and I’ve been watching that performance over and over the past day or so.

And RIP, Nelson Doubleday and Mike Hanson.
