Moving up: Tuesday notes

It’s a pretty good shakeup for the Sound Tigers after yesterday’s moves. Colin Markison and Carter Verhaeghe, up from Missouri, each appeared on one of the top two lines this morning. Looking for some speed and energy from Markison, and hoping for Verhaeghe’s offensive success in Missouri to carry over. Patrick Cullity’s return adds some experience to the defense while, as Brent Thompson said, giving Matt Finn a chance to play more.

More on all that in the paper tomorrow.

Jesse Graham, Thompson said, is under the weather and could be questionable for the weekend. Justin Florek had to leave early, ill, as well. Alan Quine, though, skated early.

The Islanders announced that Johnny Boychuk is out 4-6 weeks, so Bridgeport could be short a defenseman that way for a while.

Bridgeport could be facing the reigning AHL player of the week on Friday in Providence. Alexander Khokhlachev’s all right.

The playing captains for the all-star game are Mike Angelidis and Jeff Hoggan. Jason Iacona has a question.

Bronze for the U.S. and Ridgefield’s Chad Krys at the World Juniors. Host Finland meets Russia shortly for the gold.

And RIP, Bill Plager and Vilmos Zsigmond and Haskell Wexler.
