Series leads to the home teams in Game 3s tonight: Syracuse built big early leads, withstood three Bruins goals in the last 3:11 and held on to beat Providence 5-4 and take a 2-1 series lead. Cory Conacher had four points, including what turned out to be an empty-net game-winner. In Grand Rapids, the Griffins came from behind in the third period to beat San Jose 4-2. Mitch Callahan scored the winner with 3:40 left.

The Game 4s are Friday.

The Kelly Cup Final is set, and the ECHL championship round pits South Carolina, featuring Parker Milner in net and Trevor Gillies and Sacred Heart’s Mitch Nylen on the roster, against the Colorado Eagles, with former Sound Tigers goalie Kent Simpson and winger Darryl Bootland. The Stingrays got there Wednesday by finishing off the Manchester Monarchs in Game 7. No rest: The Final starts Friday in Colorado.

And Craig Cunningham will be a pro scout for the Coyotes.
