Try again later: Saturday notes

Is there a word for that satisfied relief when you felt obligated to get up and watch something, but you slept instead after getting home around 2 in the morning? The Germans must have one, but they’re busy tonight against Norway. Nah, Russia wins the pool with a solid win over the Americans, who had chances to make it a different game; didn’t fall for them. The U.S. plays Monday night or early Tuesday in the play-in round, opponent to be determined.

Amid a long couple of weeks, the Sound Tigers had a very light optional, which helped my decision-making there. (Had another, slightly later, obligation, too; product eventually.) No immediate word of anything going on.

Hartford is in Allentown tonight. With a win, the Pack would be three points up on the Sound Tigers but would still be in sixth on percentage. Hopefully the snow doesn’t slow them on the way in. (Can’t wait to shovel that tomorrow.) Drew Fielding joined them on a PTO to back up Chris Nell.

And RIP, a couple of legends: Greg Smyth and Donald “Fuzzy” Cohen.
