Eansor closer: Thursday notes

Optional today. Among those participating were Michael Dal Colle, still day-to-day (upper), and Scott Eansor. Eansor (upper) has a doctor’s appointment tomorrow, Brent Thompson said, and if all goes well there, Saturday is a possibility.

Kane Lafranchise and Parker Wotherspoon are also still day-to-day. They’ll see how they feel tomorrow.

While they wait on any possible call from the league on Kyle Burroughs’ kneeing major — Zack Fisch said Tyler Graovac is day-to-day, fortunately, nothing serious — Burroughs is again the Sound Tigers’ nominee for the Yanick Dupre Award, which honors players’ involvement in the community. Burroughs is the fourth Sound Tiger to be nominated more than once: Pascal Morency was the nominee three times, and in the first four years of the franchise, both king of all media Steve Valiquette and Graham Belak took the honor twice. Brent Thompson and Matt Carkner both won the award during their playing careers. Utica nominated Jaime Sifers, and Chicago nominated Scooter Vaughan.

Former Bridgeport goalie Peter Mannino was named associate head coach at Miami (Ohio).

And on opening day, RIP, legendary Rusty Staub.
