Enough, winter: Monday notes

(Internal monologue as it flew up: “That snow is weirdly dirty WAIT A SECOND…”)

Arrived in one piece, more or less, to find Bridgeport in one piece, more or less. They were lined up the same as they were the other day, with Scott Eansor and Michael Dal Colle in fifth-line orange, which is better than no-contact red. Parker Wotherspoon also practiced. They’re all day-to-day.

The next day comes quicker than usual: Spring Fun 102 tomorrow bright and early. For the second year in a row, possible an Islanders draft-pick defenseman could show up for that after jetting across the continent, but no word yet if David Quenneville, whose Medicine Hat Tigers were knocked out of the WHL playoffs last night, might be coming.

The other draft picks in junior look much less likely. Kieffer Bellows and Portland have two more chances the next two nights to finish off Spokane. Arnaud Durandeau and Halifax are already through to the second round.

Further down on the farm, things are getting exciting in Worcester, where the Railers hopped over Wheeling for the last playoff spot yesterday. Worcester has one more point than the Nailers, has one more game to play than Wheeling this week… but has not the tiebreaker at the moment. (Interesting note: The ECHL’s second tiebreaker isn’t head-to-head points, which would also go to Wheeling, but goal differential, in which the Railers right now have a one-goal lead.) At the same time, the Railers are only four points behind third-place Reading, where they visit on Wednesday. An assist yesterday for Josh Holmstrom, and a goal for Mike Cornell.

Tip of cap to the Sedin twins.

And RIP, Steven Bochco.
