Scrimmage day: Thursday notes

A little Blue-White scrimmage today at Harbor Yard, basically using yesterday’s groups, won by Group A, 4-1 (Bernier, Hudson, Hudson, Rathgeb (empty net from about 180 feet) / St. Denis).

“Obviously with the game being canceled against Hartford, this was an opportunity to get in game situations,” Thompson said, “to see game speed. Things happen differently in practice than in games.”

It wasn’t entirely game intensity, not surprisingly, though a couple of guys went down hard, including Matt Gaudreau, who needed help up and off the ice. Thompson hoped to know more about his status tomorrow, when they’ll practice rather than head to Hartford.

Chris Bourque, Connor Jones and Mitch Vande Sompel sat today out. Thompson called it a maintenance day for them. That did leave the Blue team two men shorter than the White team, and when Gaudreau went down, it looked like it was Ivan Kosorenkov who swapped over to the Blue side… then promptly took a hard spill and went off for a while. He did return.

Lou Lamoriello told reporters on the Island that Linus Soderstrom has no timetable to come over. Meanwhile, Tanner Fritz drew praise last night.
